Lionel Messi Orders a Sunreef ULTIMA 88 Yacht Being Built in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE
Football star Lionel Messi has ordered a Sunreef ULTIMA 88, a luxury power catamaran. The yacht is being built right now in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. When it is finished, it will join his MIM Ocean fleet in the Balearic Islands, Spain.
Lionel Messi is adding a new boat to his collection. Sunreef Yachts shared the news on October 13, 2026. The order also puts a spotlight on the UAE as a growing place for building luxury yachts.
The yacht is 88 feet (26.8 meters) long. It is being made at Sunreef’s shipyard in Ras Al Khaimah. It is planned for family time, with private rooms, outdoor spaces and easy access to the sea.
Sunreef says the yacht will be part of Messi’s MIM Ocean fleet. The company has not shared the price or the delivery date.
Why Messi Chose the Sunreef ULTIMA 88
Messi says his family loves spending time on the water. He also says Sunreef yachts have the style and features he wanted.
Sunreef founder and CEO Francis Lapp said the company is proud to welcome Messi and his family. He added that what makes this order special is the private family time the yacht will give them, away from the spotlight.
With this order, Messi joins other sports stars who own Sunreef yachts. These include footballer Robert Lewandowski, tennis players Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, and Formula 1 drivers Fernando Alonso and Nico Rosberg.
The ULTIMA 88 belongs to Sunreef’s power catamaran range. A catamaran is designed with two parallel hulls connected to form one vessel. This gives it more living space than most boats of the same length, while the ULTIMA design keeps a sleek and sporty look.
A Look Inside Messi’s New Yacht
Messi’s yacht will have four guest cabins and one large owner’s suite. The owner’s suite stretches across the full width of the boat. This layout gives Messi, his family and his guests their own private space.
The yacht also comes with features made for enjoying the sea.
The Ocean Lounge
The Ocean Lounge is Sunreef’s best-known feature. The sides of the boat fold down and connect to a wide back deck. This turns the back of the yacht into a private beach area at water level.
From here, guests can relax, swim or start water sports straight from the boat.
Cabins and the Owner’s Suite
The four guest cabins and the full-width owner’s suite let family and friends travel together while still having privacy.
Sunreef has not shared the full interior details of Messi’s yacht yet. The final materials, colors and custom touches are still private.
Jet Ski Garage and Outdoor Areas
Reports say the yacht will have a garage for a jet ski and other water toys.
It is also expected to have a flybridge, which is an open deck on top of the boat, along with large outdoor lounge areas. These spaces are made for resting, eating and spending time together, both while cruising and while anchored.
Twin 1,000 HP Engines
Messi’s ULTIMA 88 is expected to have two engines with 1,000 horsepower each, giving it 2,000 horsepower in total.
Sunreef says the ULTIMA 88 can reach a top speed of up to 26 knots with these engines. A hybrid engine option is also offered on this model.
Keep in mind that Sunreef has not confirmed every technical detail of Messi’s own yacht. The final speed and setup may differ from the standard model.
Ras Al Khaimah Grows as a Yacht Building Hub
Building Messi’s yacht in Ras Al Khaimah brings worldwide attention to the emirate.
Sunreef Yachts is a Polish company known for luxury catamarans. It builds yachts in both Poland and the UAE. The first ULTIMA 88 was built in Ras Al Khaimah and then traveled about 4,800 nautical miles on its own power to the Cannes Yachting Festival in France, where it made its public debut in September 2026.
According to industry data platform BOATPro, Sunreef has 26 yachts on order or under construction.
A yacht for one of the most famous athletes in the world shows that high-end products can be made in the UAE for buyers anywhere. It is another sign that the UAE economy is growing in new areas such as luxury manufacturing.
Messi’s Yacht Will Join the MIM Ocean Fleet
When the yacht is complete, it will join Messi’s MIM Ocean fleet in the Balearic Islands. This part of the Mediterranean is popular for boating and coastal holidays.
Sunreef says the new yacht will also be offered to MIM Ocean guests, not just used by Messi and his family.
The yacht is still being built. Its delivery date, final interior and business details have not been made public.
What Makes the Sunreef ULTIMA 88 Special?
The ULTIMA 88 brings together several features that luxury buyers want:
• Twin hull design for more space and stability
• Four guest cabins plus a full-width owner’s suite
• The Ocean Lounge, a beach area at sea level
• Large outdoor decks and a flybridge
• Twin 1,000 HP engines
Messi’s latest yacht expands his MIM Ocean collection, offering more opportunities for him and his family to enjoy time together on the water.
For Ras Al Khaimah, it is one more example of a world-class luxury product made in the UAE for an international buyer.
